It is not an easy task to be prepared for the loss of life. Its occurrence occupies a specific moment in a day, but its effect lasts forever. For those who continue on in life are sure to confront the loss eventually and in many stages; denial, sorrow, anger, fear, and finally acceptance.

I know Lewis G. Manuel because I know well his son Eugene. As family, having the pleasure of childhood memories from summer stays in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Aunt Nellie's house, the Manuel's were just a hop, skip, and jump away down Reilley Road. I'm sure during those hot summers, we shared an occasional cool breeze, and a gaze at the moon together while chickens ran through the yards and plums ripened in the woods, awaiting us to find and bite into their sweet tart fruit. I'm sure there sat Lewis Manuel on his porch sipping a cold glass of lemonade, all his children here and there in and out of the house back in the woods. The house remains, and the children, and those memories of life and love of family. As an adult, I have come to know and love cousin Eugene. For this reason I know and love cousin Lewis and will remember him within those North Carolina days.
Cousin Lewis transverse'd the Duat upon the Boat of Blessing and now resides with the Creator in a place called hOMe. From there he sits on the council of Elders who watch over us and lends guidance to our paths and shall judge the weight of our heart against the feather of righteousness according to the deeds of our lifetime in hopes that we too are found worthy to ride in the Boat of Blessing.

Losing a Loved One to the Sting of death can be so painful. But, the Most High God's written Word the Bible can bring Some comfort: Psalms 83:18 & 2Corinthians 1:3. May You look forward to God's promises being fulfilled at Acts 24:15 & Revelation 21:4. Yes, when the Sting of death Will Not Be and to live Life as it was meant to be, "Free from Sickness & Death" (Isaiah 33:24, Isaiah 25:8 & Psalms 37:11). We hope that these few Scriptures were a Measure of Comfort.
