Mrs Mary Pickens & Family,
Sorry to hear of the passing of Deacon Pickens, who was my Sunday School teacher.
Unfortunately, I was out-of-state at the time of his funeral. Nevertheless, I wish to express condolences for your loss. Deacon Pickens was a good man, a good teacher, and a dedicated Christian. It was an inspiration to see him continuing to carry out his deacon duties even though he was at times clearly in pain.

Truly it was a blessing to be able to share and fellowship with "Pop" before he was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Words can not describe how much I enjoyed our fellowship, the laughter and songs we shared. One thing I will ever remember is how even when I thought he was resting and I would begin to sing a song, he would join in and give praise to God. So now he will, in the presence of the Lord, continue to sing in the heavenly choir.
