Mr. Mack was the Assistant Principal of my Junior High in 7th grade. He used to always walk the halls with his arms all over the girl students hugging them in his new suits. One day he made a insulting remark about my cousin who had recently passed away and tried to call my parents and told them a Scoal Bandit tobacco he found was a package of marijuana and he was going to have the cops test it. He made a comment about my cousin being dead and that I would be no better, or something like that. My step-dad walked in his office turned over his desk and got up in his face and cursed him out against the wall. I never had a problem with him in the halls again. He was probably racist.

Mr Mack has been on my mind a lot these past couple of weeks so I googled him and found this page. I'm so sadden by the news. I went to Douglas Byrd as a child. I currently live in Indianapolis and I'm about to become a teacher and hopefully a principle back home in Fayetteville after learn the system. Since that decision I have been thinking about Mr. Mack and how clean he use to be with his suits walking the halls of the school. and it has encouraged me to become the best principle GOD will allow me too. My condolences to his family. He has left a positive lasting impression on my life and career.

It is with much sadness to learn of Mr. Mack's departure. He was such a strong figure and influence for citizens and students in the Fayetteville and surrounding areas.

My prayers are with my dear friend, Mary, as well as the children, grands, etc. The comfort I leave is that you will be in my prayers, and to know there is a great resurrection morning, when we shall all reunite to never depart again.

My heart is saddened today to see such a wonderful man go on to be with the lord. He was my grade school teacher, he was my confidant. I was a little girl with no father figure. He let me know every day that I was somebody and I could be whatever I wanted to be. As a nurse taking care of him, he never forgot me and I will never forget him. Thank You Mr. Mack
