Jasper Edwards Sr.

Jasper Edwards, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on March 18, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 80. The son of Robert Edwards, Senior and Daisy Williams, Jasper Edwards grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born August 24,1942 Greenville, Mississippi and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1952. He attended and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the age of twenty, Jasper Edwards enlisted in the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Private First Class. As part of this service, He served honorably during the Vietnam conflict, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal during his service. Jasper Edwards is survived by his wife Linda Faye Edwards of North Carolina. Two sisters Betty-Jean Jordan, of Indiana and Doris Jordan of Indiana; sons, Jasper Edwards Jr, of Texas and Perry Edwards, of North Carolina; daughters, Reverend Dr. LuWanna Edwards-Scott, of Indiana, Reverend Blanche Edwards-Wright, of Indiana, Terri Lynn Edwards of North Carolina and Step-Daughters; Torrey Spearman Mitchell of Texas, Phyllis E. Spearman of North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren, Jasper Edwards III, Spencer K. Edwards, Capt. US Air Force Jordan D. Edwards, Ariel A. Edwards, Tiffany Johnson, Ebony Ray, Christian Hampton, Joy Torrence, Brittney Edwards, Annanda Edwards, Miisia Edwards, Raheem McKinnon, Palmer Frederick Mitchell II., Kaytish Ann Mitchell, Jessica F. Mitchell, Gabriel Emmanuel Mitchell, and nineteen great grandchildren, Trinity Jones, and Elizabeth Adalyn -Grace Green Mitchell. Numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his Father Robert Edwards Sr., Mother Daisy Williams, Brothers, Robert Edwards, Jr., Louis Jordan, Flasco Jordan Jr., David Jordan and John L. Jordan and sister, Shirley Jordan.

His loved ones will remember that he loved his wife, his family, dog, truck and life. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28th at 10:00 AM in Wiseman Mortuary Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

 Viewing Tuesday, March 28th 9:00 AM to 10:00 at Wiseman Mortuary.
